Taiwanese Music and Dance Church Street School for Music and Art faculty members Dr. Yu-Wei Hsiao and his creative partner and company co-founder Chieh Hsiung will be performing a contemporary dance musical, “Islanders 3: Special Edition,” at Gibney Dance on Jule 12 and 13. The goal of the production is to introduce Taiwanese music, dance, and culture to a wider audience. More information here.

Art in the Window Works by Tribeca artist and longtime resident Rand Hardy are on display in the West Broadway community window of 60 Hudson Street, corner of Thomas. The four pieces span more than 40 years, from 1981 to 2023. Three of them are made from a gypsum-based, non-toxic material that Hardy says he now works with almost exclusively. The works are on view at all hours until July 31.

Summer Concerts The Alliance for Downtown New York is sponsoring six weeks of lunchtime music and dance performances. On tap are jazz, blues, salsa, bolero, cha-cha, soul and pop music along with tap, swing, and modern jazz dancing. Concerts take place on Wednesdays at 12 pm, with locations alternating between 140 Broadway and the North Plaza of the Oculus. See complete schedule here.

Learn Pottery Making Tribeca Clayworks is offering 4-week introductory workshops during the summer for adults who have never used a pottery wheel. Handbuilding is an ancient technique that involves creating forms without a pottery wheel, using the hands, fingers, and simple tools. There are also summer workshops that introduce the basics of throwing. The classes are held at Downtown Community Center, 120 Warren St. Information here.

Cruise the Harbor From May through October you can sail aboard the Seaport Museum’s historic 1885 schooner Pioneer, a National Register-listed vessel. In addition to a two-hour daytime sail, through the New York harbor, there are also sunset cruises. Rides are also available aboard W.O. Decker, the last surviving New York-built wooden tugboat.
